What is SEO in 2019?

SEO, as the full form says, Search-Engine Optimization. It is one of the most important factors in Digital Marketing and Content Marketing.

According to Wikipedia,
"Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of increasing the quality and quantity of website traffic by increasing the visibility of a website or a web page to users of a web search engine."

Neil Patel says,
"SEO stands for search engine optimization. Which is the art of ranking high on a search engine in the unpaid section, also known as the organic listings."

These are some technical definitions of SEO given by top SEO specialists in this industry.

In simple words,
Search Engine Optimization is optimizing the Search-Engines (eg Google) to be in your favor.

As of other online activities, SEO is also of two types,
  • Black-Hat SEO
  • White-Hat SEO

Black-Hat SEO, as the name suggests, Black-Hat SEO is those SEO techniques which are illegal. These techniques may give instant results but may lead your online presence to permanent blocking and legal problems in the long run.

On the other hand, White-Hat SEO is using techniques to optimize our pages to be loved by Search Engines legally. This may take up some time but is beneficial for the long run and higher authority of your website.

SEO in 2019

SEO is now somewhat changed from what it was earlier. Some years ago, SEO was mostly considered to be dependent on backlinks. If you had more backlinks you would be ranked higher.

But now the situation is changed. Although backlinks still play the role, other factors are important now. Now Google gives importance to authoritative advice.

For example, if you have a blog about medical solutions, then if you have your degree and your authoritative presence as a certified medical practitioner or doctor, then Google will give more priority to you than others. Here backlinks don't play a much higher role (but ya, they are important)

As of the above example, Google is regularly updating its algorithm, resulting in changes in SEO techniques. Every year, Google makes hundreds of changes in their algorithms. In 2018, there were 3,234 updates according to Moz. It means 9-10 updates per day!
