Get Mobile Notifications on Desktop - Pushbullet Review

Get your mobile notification on your desktop | Pushbullet Review

Do you often work on your computer or laptop? If you do, then you may have suffered this problem that, you get any notification on your mobile while working on your laptop and you need to check your mobile quite often to swipe right or left the arrived notification.

I have suffered this many time. As a blogger, I need to work on my laptop and checking my phone again and again for notification is quite irritating, especially when you are doing some important work. I tried to find the solution and found some apps: Pushbullet, AirDroid, Cortana and some more.

In this article, I am going to write a review on Pushbullet. Pushbullet allows you to get your mobile's notifications on your computer or laptop.

Hey there, I am Madhusudan Somani and you are reading this article at MSS Articles, let's continue...

What is Pushbullet

Pushbullet is a cross-platform application which bridges the gap between your Phone, Computer, Tablet so they all work together better. It is headquartered in San Francisco. According to Pushbullet, it was founded to make your devices work better.

With Pushbullet you can see your phone's notification to your PC, share links and files easily between your devices instantaneously. This app is free with added paid features. Currently available for Android, iPhone, Windows applications and Add-ons for Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari browsers.

Synchronizing Notification from Mobile to PC

Get mobile notification on desktop - Pushbullet Review 1

Puchbullet does its work nicely to showing my android phone's notification on my laptop. It shows mobile notification on the desktop within 1-2 second of arriving it on mobile.

Currently, this feature is available only for Android phones. So iPhone users can not use this. (Although iPhone already has a similar feature if you are using Mac).

You can either dismiss it or take action right from your desktop. You will need an active internet connection in both of your devices to receive notifications.

Quick Reply

The best thing I found in this app is that you can access quick reply facility on your computer. For example, if there is a notification for a new message in WhatsApp or any other app, then along with dismissing it, you can also reply to it right from your computer without touching your mobile. You can reply to a maximum of 100 messages/month in the free version.

Along with quick reply, it also supports rich options which are available in mobile devices but this feature is in the pro version, so you have to pay if you want to use this.

Other Notification Features

It also has some other features in mirroring notification between your phone and computer, which are:
  • You can skip silent notifications to show on your desktop.
  • You can enable or disable apps to show notifications on your desktop.
  • You can opt to show notification only when you are on a Wifi network.

Sharing Files and Links

Get files on cross platform - Puchbullet Review 2

You can access one device's file from other devices, enabling easy transfer of files within devices. You can also access your files in any browser by logging in into your Pushbullet account on their website. But in the free version the maximum limit to send a file is 25MB. To send files which is more than 25MB, you have to buy the pro version.

You can share files and links between your devices. You can send a link from phone to the laptop or from computer to phone. You can send any message to yourself from your phone to computer and from your laptop to your phone from the Pushbullet app.

Pushbullet Pro

Pushbullet offers a paid version with some extra features than the Pushbullet free version.
It has two packages, monthly and annually:
Monthly: $4.99/Month.
Annual: $39.99/Anum | $3.33/Month. You can pay only through Credit Card.

With the Pushbullet Pro version, you will get these features along with all the free features:
  • You can send files up to 1GB.
  • You will get online storage space of 100GB which is 2GB in the free version.
  • You can send unlimited messages from quick reply.
  • You will get notification rich action support.
  • You will get universal copy-paste feature within different devices.

Pros of Pushbullet

  • Its app size is only 4.6MB which is much lower than Cortana which is 35MB.
  • There is a negligible delay in notification synchronization.
  • There is an option for End-to-End Encryption. Which adds more security to your data for free.
  • You can access your other device's files from your computer, phone and even from an internet browser.
  • Quick reply adds more value to Pushbullet notifications.
  • You can skip silent notifications to display on your computer so you will not be distracted every time.
  • There are no irritating ads.

Cons of Pushbullet

  • I didn't find any option in the desktop application to access my mobile's files.
  • Notification mirroring is only available for Android phones, not available for iPhones.
  • The desktop application crashes hard sometimes.
  • There is one problem in notification synchronization. It can not combine notifications of a single app together as we see in Android devices.
  • The files you send is not directly downloaded in your computer. Firstly you need to open it in any browser, then you can download the file from your browser. It may look a little bit annoying.
  • Accepts payment for pro version only from the Credit card.

My rating for Pushbullet: 3 / 5.

Pushbullet is a nice application to synchronize notifications, files, links etc across your devices. Along with getting the notifications from your mobile on your computer, you can also perform actions on them, when you dismiss any notification from the desktop, it will be dismissed from your mobile.

You can use End-to-End encryption for free, which is a big plus point. By end-to-end encryption, your notifications and files will be encrypted before synchronizing. This adds an extra layer of security on your data.
